New England Patriots' Training Camp Highlights Fierce Competition Among Wide Receivers
The New England Patriots are gearing up for another promising season, with training camp bringing a flurry of activity and keen competition, especially among the wide receivers. Very talented on the inside and outside," Smith-Schuster stated, highlighting the cutthroat environment created by the Patriots' coaching staff.
Last season presented challenges for Smith-Schuster, as he played in only 11 games, recording 29 receptions for 260 yards and a touchdown. His season was prematurely cut short, being shut down for the final month. This backdrop makes Smith-Schuster's performance at the current training camp crucial, especially given his significant dead cap hit of $12.26 million for the upcoming season. "You have a lot of great guys in the room. A lot of people who have been making plays all camp. I would say that the competition level is very, very high. So everyone that's out there, when your opportunity comes you've gotta make the best out of it," Smith-Schuster remarked, further emphasizing the importance of seizing every opportunity to shine.
The Patriots have prioritized both performance and potential in their drafting and free-agency strategies. I've been in a lot of tough situations, making those hard catches and being able to convert and move the sticks. Something I'm very proud of. So for sure, got that dawg in me.
